A Message from the Principal Davis

Welcome Back to a New School Year!

Learning at home:
We have completed one month of school for the 2026-2027 school year! Learning Sparks is the supplement to the monthly Chaparral Heat Newsletter that provides information and support for parents on how to support your child’s learning and success at home. Each edition of Learning Sparks includes three main categories: MTSS-B Support at Home, Reading Recommended Support at Home, and Math Recommended Support at Home.  Check the Chaparral Heat school website calendar and the Upcoming Events Page below for all upcoming events.

MTSS-B Recommended Support at Home:
MTSS-B (Multi-Tiered Systems of Support for Behavior) is a schoolwide systems approach that establishes a positive student culture and provides individualized behavior supports to create a safe, effective learning environment for all students. At Chaparral, the school rules are BE SAFE, BE RESPECTFUL, and BE RESPONSIBLE. Students are also taught and informed of the GOLDEN RULE – “TREAT OTHERS THE WAY YOU WANT TO BE TREATED.” MTSS-B is practiced and implemented throughout the school day and year, where the staff does the following:
·        Constantly teach and refer to our school-wide expectations.
·        Provide students with more praise than correction.
·        Talk to students with respect using a positive voice tone.
·        Actively engage everyone in the class during instruction.
·        Use pre-correcting, prompting, and redirecting as we teach.
·        Look for the positive first and provide positive, immediate, frequent, and explicit feedback.
As parents, you can support these expectations at home.  Please refer to the Chaparral (Parent) Handbook found in the school website or by clicking on the provided link for the parent handbook to see more information on MTSS-B at Chaparral: www.chino.k12.ca.us/chaparral

📣 Important Reminders

DROP-OFF AND PICK-UP REMINDERS
Our parking lot is small and busy. For everyone’s safety and to keep things running smoothly, please follow all procedures.

🚶‍♀️ Plan Ahead
  • Arrive early.
  • Park along Bird Farm when possible.
  • Older students may walk to a designated meeting spot.
  • Walk younger students to campus or use the drop-off/pick-up lane.
  • Preschool, TK, and Kinder students must be picked up by a guardian. Please use the visitor parking lot or street parking and walk to meet your child by their teacher. Do not use the drop-off/pick-up lane for these students.
🚗 Efficiency at Pick-Up & Drop-Off
  • Pull all the way forward to load/unload. Students may load/unload as soon as their car has moved forward in the line, is beside the sidewalk/loading zone, and has stopped completely. Multiple cars loading/unloading at once keep traffic moving.
  • Students should be ready to exit/enter as soon as the car stops.
  • Do not exit your vehicle at any time.
🔄 No Left Turn on Exit
  • Right turn only when exiting the parking lot.
  • Left turns are not permitted under any circumstances.
🚫 Staff Parking & Bus Zone Only
  • Do not park in STAFF spaces. These are reserved for employees.
  • Do not enter the BUS zone. This area is strictly for school buses and licensed daycare vans picking up multiple children.
🚦 Traffic & Safety Rules
  • Stay on the correct side of the road.
  • Obey all crosswalk laws.
  • Use the crosswalk in the parking lot and on Bird Farm.
  • Do not call students across the street or the parking lot without an adult escort.
Thank you for helping us keep Chaparral safe and efficient for all students and families!
